What is a Travel Plan?

A Travel Plan is a unique set of actions designed by a school, campus, workplace, or community to plan their travel, increase active travel, and to ultimately use alternatives to single-occupancy car use.

Why do we need a Community Travel Plan?

By encouraging us to plan our travel, increase active travel and use alternatives to single-occupancy car use, Travel Plans can improve health and wellbeing, free up space on our streets, and make a positive contribution to our community and our environment.

Why does our community need to get involved?

The team at Limerick Smarter Travel (LST) are about to kick-start the Community Travel Planning initiative in 10 communites around Limerick. Without a travel plan you and your community members cannot enter the 'Big Travel Action Challenge' and miss out on a chance of winning prizes and further travel action support. Therefore it is important that as many people as possible engage with the plan-making process in order to identify issues and plan solutions. Your involvement is vital. Every Travel Plan is unique, but most creative and successful Travel Plans follow a structured process as they are being developed and aim to tackle the unique travel issues highlighted by community members. During the Community Travel Planning process, taking place in Limerick communities, there will be guidance and support from a dedicated team from LST .

Your community needs your support and you need theirs

If you are interested in taking part in the Travel Planning happening in the community, where you live or work, please get in touch with us today or take a look at the groups above and join your community directly.
