Bus Travel - Park and Ride

Park and Ride simply means driving some of the way to your intended destination, such as your workplace, a stadium or park for a public event, then parking up the car and riding the rest of the way, on bus, coach or rail. It can be particularly good for people that live a long way from their intended destination and want to avoid traffic congestion and car parking charges. It has the added benefit of reducing congestion and making it safer around a stadium during a big game, or outside a workplace before or after working hours.


Christmas Park and Ride

Car Parking Location: Greyhound Stadium (main car park), Dock Road, Limerick

Bus Stop Location: Squire McGuires Bar, Lower Cecil Street

End time: 07.00pm 

Frequency: every 15 minutes

The Christmas Park and Ride service will begin from Saturday the 6th of December 2014. The service will provide a convenient and sustainable transport alternative for Christmas shoppers helping them avoid the costs and hassle associated with traffic and car-parking during the busy Christmas period. The pilot scheme, which will be operated by Bus Eireann on behalf of Limerick City and County Council. The scheme will provide a free shuttle bus service from the Greyhound Stadium on the Dock Road to and from a special park and ride bus stop beside Squire McGuires on Lower Cecil Street, Limerick City Centre. Buses will operate every 15 minutes in each direction. The service will operate from 10.00am to 07.00pm daily up until Christmas Eve the 24th of December 2014.
