Free Travel Pass: 

If you, or someone you know, is aged 66 and over, living permanently in the Republic of Ireland you are entitled to a ‘Free Travel Pass’, one  that you must carry with you when using public transport. Sometimes people under the age of 66 qualify for the scheme. In some cases, a ‘Free Travel Companion Pass’ is available. The ‘Free Travel Pass’ is available for use on all Bus Éireann, Iarnród Éireann and Luas Services, as well as, a limited number of services operated by private bus transport companies.
